Former Hillcrest learner found murdered on a yacht in the Bahamas

A public appeal has been made to assist the family financially through a Go Fund Me account.

A GO Fund Me account has been set up to assist the family of Paige Bell who was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered in the Bahamas.

Her body was found in the ship’s engine room on July 3. According to news reports, a 39-year-old superyacht engineer has been arrested for Paige’s murder.

Paige and the accused worked aboard the Far From It superyacht. At the time of the incident, the yacht was anchored off Harbour Island.

Paige, who would have celebrated her 21st birthday on July 14, is a former Hillcrest High School learner.

Hillcrest High School wrote on the school’s Facebook page: “It is with great sadness that we offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends, and all who knew and loved former Hillcrest High School pupil, Paige Bell.”

The school described Paige, who matriculated in 2022, as an incredibly special young lady who was the happiest, most bubbly person.

“We know that her untimely and tragic death is a great loss to all who knew Paige, and beyond devastating to her parents and family. As a school we will be holding them in our thoughts and prayers and would like to ask for the support of the greater HHS community in bringing Paige home to her family. Please share and donate to the Go Fund Me account that was set up, in her honour, to assist her family during this incredibly difficult time,” read the Facebook post.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
