Elangeni College uplifts women

The college is committed to empowering women by addressing socio-economic challenges and breaking barriers in work, education, and economic participation.

ELANGENI TVET College hosted a Women’s Day celebration that was nothing short of elegant, with a beautifully decorated hall and guests dressed to the nines.

The day offered a space for inspiration, relaxation, and empowerment. Women in attendance enjoyed live music, singing, and dancing, along with a series of motivational and educational sessions.

Shavika Reddy, acting assistant director of marketing and communications at the college, emphasised the institution’s ongoing commitment to uplifting women.

“Through targeted programmes and initiatives, the College equips women with skills, knowledge, and resources, affirming education as a powerful tool for transformation, equality, and lasting empowerment,” she said.

Themed ‘Empowered Women, Empower Women’, the event featured a line-up of speakers, including college principal Zodwa Kula and the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Nomalungelo Gina, who delivered keynote addresses.

The programme included a motivational session with a psychologist from Higher Health, a health talk by the Heart & Stroke Foundation, and practical workshops focused on financial literacy and personal care.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
