Truck ploughs through multiple vehicles on the N3 PMB bound

It is believed that more than 15 vehicles were involved in this horrific crash and more than 20 people sustained various injuries.

A CRITICALLY injured patient has been airlifted to hospital following a horrific multiple vehicle crash on the N3 Pietermaritzburg-bound at the bottom of Key Ridge this morning (Thursday, September 4).

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said they are currently on scene at the N3 Pietermaritzburg and Durban bound near the Cliffdale/Peacevale offramp

Jamieson confirmed that 15-20 vehicles were involved in the collision.

“Reports indicate that a truck driver lost control and ploughed through multiple vehicles. More than 20 people have sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious injuries.

“One person was severely entrapped in the vehicle. Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment were used to cut the patient free. A Netcare 911 helicopter was called in to rapidly transport the patient to a hospital.”

Jamieson advised people to avoid the area at all costs.
