Weather conditions delay progress on Stapleton Rd
The councillor says contractors were left with limited time to secure asphalt from suppliers, who will be closed during the festive season.
DESPITE significant progress being made to work being done on Stapleton Road, according to Ward 18 councillor Melanie Brauteseth, recent weather conditions have caused some delays.
In a previous update, the councillor had said it was expected that the contractors would complete all surfacing works by December 12 “subject to favourable weather conditions and material supply”.
On Friday, December 12, Brauteseth said progress has been made with the tarring but the weather conditions resulted in delays.

“As a result, contractors were left with limited time to secure asphalt from suppliers, all of whom will be closed during the festive season.
“All concrete barriers have now been removed, and the flow of traffic has improved. Temporary road markings will be applied.
“As a temporary safety measure, cold tar will be placed at the traffic intersection instead of sandbags until contractors resume work in January.
“Please drive with patience and care when travelling through this area,” said Brauteseth.
