Immediate attention being given to water leaks
The eThekwini Municipality says teams have already begun work to restore normal water supply in the Upper Highway area.
THE eThekwini Municipality has assured the residents of the Upper Highway area that the reported water leaks and burst pipes “are receiving immediate attention”.
The municipality’s marketing and communications deputy head Gugu Sisilana said teams have begun work “to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible”.
“The City remains committed to ensuring continued service and convenience for residents,” said Sisilana.
Meanwhile, Julie Cox of the ratepayers’ association in the Upper Highway area said most of the reported leaks had been fixed over the weekend.
This has brought relief to residents after some water leaks and burst pipes had gone unattended for about five to six days.

Cox said the areas where leaks were reported included Brackenfell Road, where the leak affected supply to parts of the Crestholme area.
That leak, Cox previously said, had prompted that the valve be turned off.
“It is all quiet for now in terms of the leaks, it appears that all the areas which had been reported were fixed,” said Cox.
A burst pipe on Rainbow Drive was also reported last Monday, whilst a complaint was also logged about a broken water meter resulting in a leak in the Molweni area.
Cox said the broken water meter had been reported in December at the eThekwini Municipality offices in Hillcrest, with nothing done about it.
