Suspect arrested for unlawful possession of unlicensed firearm

The Metro Police say a shotgun was seized and a 26-year-old suspect was arrested and handed over to the SAPS.

A 26-year-old suspect was arrested this week by the Durban Metro Police at kwaNgcolosi (Hillcrest) for the unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The Metro Police said the firearm was seized after their tracing units searched the suspect’s residence, which was identified following a tip-off.

“An operational team was mobilised and tactically approached the identified premises. Upon searching the residence, one male suspect was found in possession of a black shotgun,” said the Metro Police.

The suspect, said the Metro Police, was detained for unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and handed over to the SAPS.
