Suspected drug dealer nabbed in Westville

The police say the suspect was found in possession of 10 bags of a white powdered substance suspected to be cocaine.

THE Westville SAPS crime prevention team nabbed a suspected drug dealer in Westville on Friday, February 20, who was found in possession of a substance suspected to be cocaine.

The station’s communications officer, Sergeant Zwelethu Khathi, said the 24-year-old suspect was arrested on Jan Hofmeyr Road in Westville at about 17:15.

“Ten bags of a white powdered substance suspected to be cocaine were found in the suspect’s possession,” said Khathi.

Khathi said members of the Westville SAPS crime prevention team had been patrolling the Westville area when the suspect was spotted “acting very suspiciously”.

The suspect, said Khathi, was inside a parked vehicle when he was noticed by the police.

“A stop and search was conducted. Upon searching the said male, members found him in possession of narcotics, cocaine. He was detained at Westville SAPS for further investigation,” said Khathi.
