Lions international peace poster contest open
Local children aged between 11 and 13 can contact the Cowies Hill Lions Club for more information on how to enter the competition.
THE Lions international peace poster contest is open for local children to express what peace means to them through the medium of art.
For nearly four decades, the Lions International Peace Poster Contest has offered children aged 11 to 13 an inspiring platform to express what peace means to them through the medium of art.

Annually, Lions clubs worldwide sponsor the contest in schools, among individual artists, in art clubs, and through organised youth groups. This initiative provides young people with the chance to receive recognition both locally and internationally.
Participants have the opportunity to win a grand prize of US$5000 (about R84 000) and a trip to the United Nations for the international winner and their parents. The contest encourages creativity by asking entrants to interpret the current year’s theme — Harmony in Humanity.

The theme invites young people to imagine a world where individuals from every culture and background coexist peacefully. It encourages the celebration of differences, the discovery of common ground, and the creation of genuine harmony among all people.
The contest is open to learners who will be 11, 12, or 13 years old on November 15. Local winners and runners-up will receive prizes in recognition of their artistic achievements. The artwork of the local winner will proceed to the District 410E contest for further judging. The district winner’s artwork will then advance to be judged at the national level.
