Driver freed following truck crash in Kloof

Paramedics say the fire department had to free the driver from the wreckage, and he and two others were transported to hospital.

A DRIVER had to be freed from a wreckage following a truck crash on the M13 down Fields Hill in Kloof this morning (Thursday, March 12).

Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics said the crash was reported just after 05:30.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a truck had somehow lost control and overturned, coming to rest on its side. Three occupants were found to have sustained injuries with the driver found to be entrapped in the wreckage.

“Immediately the eThekwini Fire Department were dispatched to assist. Whilst the patient was being cut free Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise him in the vehicle. Once freed all three occupants were stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that they required.

“The M13 was closed Durban-bound and traffic was diverted.

“At this stage the events leading up to the crash are unknown however all necessary authorities were in attendance and will be investigating further,” said Jamieson.
