Suspected hitman killed in shoot-out with police in Pinetown

It is alleged that the man linked to multiple murder cases was using premises in Manors, Pinetown, as his hideout.

A SUSPECTED hitman allegedly linked to multiple murder cases in the South Coast area was killed in a shoot-out with police in Pinetown.

The SAPS in KwaZulu-Natal reported that an intelligence-driven operation was conducted in the early hours of Wednesday,  April 1, in Manors, Pinetown.

KZN police said the members received information regarding a suspect who was believed to be hiding at a premises in Pinetown.

“A multi-disciplinary team, comprising various law enforcement units, proceeded to the location to effect an arrest. Upon arrival, members were met with gunfire from the suspect, resulting in an exchange of fire. The suspect was fatally wounded during the incident.

“At the scene, police recovered two firearms, including a CZ 75 pistol and another unconfirmed firearm, as well as several spent cartridges from both rifles and pistols,” said the police.

An inquest docket has been opened for further investigation.
