Westville thief nabbed with stolen items
The suspect charged with possession of property suspected to be stolen was also linked to theft of copper pipes.
WESTVILLE SAPS station commander Colonel Zamantungwa Sihlangu has praised the officers and other roleplayers for the swift arrest of a house break-in suspect on Thursday (April 16).
Sihlangu applauded the members for excellent work and encouraged them to continue arresting house break-in thieves that have been terrorising the area.
The station’s communications officer, Sergeant Zwelethu Khathi, said members of Westville Crime Prevention followed up on video footage and information of a suspect that committed theft of copper pipes at a residence in Westville.

After a two-hour long intensive search in the vicinity of the crime, Khathi reported that members finally located the suspect on Link Road trying to make his way out of Westville.
“The suspect fled upon noticing the police but was apprehended after a pursuit on foot into a nearby park.
“He was found in possession of two bags with multiple valuable items which it was later discovered that he also committed a house break-in and theft from a house on Westville Road.”
He was detained at Westville SAPS for further investigation and is expected to appear at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court facing a charge of possession of property suspected to be stolen.
