Another Pinetown Boys High learner abducted

A second Pinetown Boys High pupil has reportedly been kidnapped, prompting heightened concern as police investigate the sensitive case.

THE police have confirmed that another Pinetown Boys High School pupil was taken on Friday (May 22).

It was reported that the learner was allegedly kidnapped on their way to school.

The school, and the police have declined to comment on the incident, stating that the matter was still at a very sensitive stage.

Late last month the school was prompted to beef up its security measures following the traumatic kidnapping of another learner.

The police confirmed then that that learner was released ‘unharmed’ on the same day (April 24) of the kidnapping.

According to the police, that learner had been standing outside the school when unknown men forced him into their car.

KZN SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza confirmed at the time that the learner was released after a ransom was paid.

It was reported that the learner was released that evening at about 19:00, with no visible injuries, but was left severely traumatised, along with members of his family.

The Highway Mail will not publish further updates at this stage so as not to jeopardise the investigation or compromise the safety of the child.

Further information will follow once an official statement is released by the authorities or the family.
