Malvern resident gives back on his birthday
Aveer Sukhraj, a Malvern resident, celebrated his 29th birthday by giving back to the Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre, a place he's passionate about.
FOR years, Malvern resident Aveer Sukhraj has celebrated his birthday in a selfless way by giving back to those less fortunate.
This year was no different. On July 8, as he celebrated his 29th birthday, Sukhraj visited a place that holds a special place in his heart, the Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre.
The home, which has been a place of safety and care for 62 years, currently has 80 children between the age of two and 18 years.

He arrived with boxes of hot dogs for the children and also made a financial contribution to the home.
“Normally, we bring warm food, but this year I also wanted to bring inflatables so that the children could play, have fun and enjoy the day,” he said.
Sukhraj explained that he has never been interested in birthday parties and instead prefers to use the occasion to make a difference in the lives of children.
“The children here do not have families, so I believe they deserve to celebrate more than I do,” he said.
“They deserve to feel special.”
Reverend Henry Samuels, who recently took over the management of the children’s home alongside his wife, Sharon, thanked Sukhraj and his family for their generous gesture.
“What he did today highlights his kindness and the type of person he is. We are truly honoured and feel blessed,” said Samuels.
Sukhraj’s father Santosh said his son has always had a compassionate heart.
