MALVERN SAPS have opened a case of robbery against two teens who were arrested on Ethelbert Road, Malvern.

The station’s communications officer, Sergeant Sithembile Kheswa, said the complainant was walking on the road with his airpods on while listening to music.

“He was approached by two young men, aged 18 and 19 years old. One produced a knife and demanded his cellphone and airpods. The suspect then stabbed the complainant on his back. The victim fought back and the suspects fled, he chased them and managed to get his cellphone back,” reported Kheswa.

An ambulance was called for medical assistance.

“The complainant called his father and described the suspects to him. While driving to assist his son, he saw two guys that were fitting the description. The father immediately called the SAPS Malvern for assistance,” said the communications officer.

Detective Sergeant Andiswa Mjungula who was present in the charge office swiftly responded.

“The two suspects were positively identified by the victim. They were arrested for robbery. One was searched and was found being in possession of airpods inside his jacket.”

Acting Station Commander Captain Krishna Govender applauded the member for her good work.

“Swift response always makes a huge impact on arrest. Well done to Detective Sergeant Mjungula.”
