ARE you a Glinda or an Elphaba? Or are you just there for the popcorn? No matter which side you are on, you do not want to miss the Hillcrest High School (HHS) Representative Council of Learners (RCL) “Wicked” outdoor movie night fundraiser under the Westown stars on September 19.

“Our HHS RCL would truly appreciate the support of the Upper Highway community,” said HHS principal Denise Knight. “The RCL have been pushing hard to raise funds for improvements to the school for the benefit of the learners both now and in the future. We would also like to extend our thanks to Kaleido Westown, developers of Westown Square, and the surrounding residential estates, who are sponsoring the costs of this movie night to make this an all out fundraiser for our learners.”

Each year the HHS RCL go all out to beat the previous year’s fundraising efforts. This year’s representatives have hosted a Movie and Night Market event at HHS, two fun inflatables days as part of the school’s Founders’ Day and 50th Celebrations, and a Spring Dance for Grade 8s and 9s.

This month they will host the Westown Square Wicked Movie Night and Heritage Showcase and hope to also host a music event in November. The funds raised throughout the year will be used to improve on the outdoor homework zone established last year by the 2025 RCL.

Tickets are R50 and can be purchased on Quicket or on the night at The Bowl, Westown Square, Shongweni. Food, snacks and drinks will be available to purchase at the venue.
