Animal cruelty is not acceptable

"I felt sick at the wanton act of cruelty"

EDITOR – This morning, Tuesday 29 April, I drove past Memorial Park in Kloof and saw what appeared to be an idyllic scene: sunlight, green grass, trees swaying in the slight breeze and a man with his two Border Collies. One of the dogs sat quietly while the man struggled with a rather large chain that appeared to be tangled near the collar of the second dog. He suddenly raised his hand and smashed it into the dog’s face so hard that it almost overbalanced.

I felt sick at the wanton act of cruelty, and would like to say to him, “Sir, you deserve neither the love nor respect that this dog undoubtedly bestows on you. You are not worthy of it. How dare you take out your frustration and impatience on this sensitive and intelligent dog, as Border Collies are known to be, by venting your anger in this disgusting manner. There were no other people in sight, but rest assured, God saw what you did to one of His creatures.”
