SEVENTEEN members from Highway Judo competed in the SA Open Judo Tournament in Port Elizabeth recently.
Due to the distance and expense involved, only 25 children from KwaZulu-Natal were able to compete in the competition.
There were competitors from all the provinces, as well as Swaziland, Botswana and Mozambique.
According to the coach (sensei) Rob Jordaan, it was the first major event for most of the children, but they did their best against more experienced fighters. “They can wear their KZN Colours with pride as we came back with 14 medals: two gold, three silver and six bronze,” said Rob.
