THE Westville Athletic Club successfully hosted the opening event for this year’s Cross Country Season, known as the Parlauf, on Friday 7 March.
According to Alen Hattingh, of Westville Athletic Club and KZNA Cross Country communication, 99 teams and 198 runners competed in the event.
Cary-Ann Smith and Danielle Adlam (22:00) won in the Open Ladies 6km race.
Shani Silver and Lauren Calenborne (23:27) took second place while Wendy Durow and Michelle Lloys-Ellis (23:36) took third place.
The Open Men’s 8km race was won by Lucky Madlala and Innocent Nyawose (26:20), followed by Steven Caelers and Jonathan Edwards (26:40) and Paul Eichert and Grant Cummings (27:33), taking second and third place, respectively.
Mark Johnson and Mason Campbell (15:05) won the Boys’ and Girls’ U17 4km race, followed by Sven Muchna Khea Emms (15:47), and Kamie Arjun and Luke Williams (16:44).
