Villagers enter Castle Murray Cup

Local outfit, the HVRC, were excited to announce that five of its players were chosen for the KZN Wildebeest squad.

FIVE of the 1st XV Hillcrest Villagers Rugby Club players were included in the 2014 KZN Wildebeest squad.

The club’s chairman, René Missen, was also elated to announce that the head coach, Jeremy McLaren, was appointed as the Wildebeest assistant coach and the club’s current president, Keith Dent, was named as the squad’s manager.

The selected Villager players that were selected for the team are, Stefan Bothma, Tommy Bezuidenhout, Patrick McLaughin, Kyle Spowart and Gerhard Botha.

The Hillcrest Villagers are also the only Highway based club to have qualified for the Castle Murray Cup Knockout Tournament.

“The tournament kicks off this Saturday and the Villagers will play at home, at the Durban Shongweni Club grounds, against the Pietermaritzburg Collegians from 5pm. We would appreciate as much support from the community as possible and it promises to be a good evening of exciting club rugby,” said René.
