Local golfer wins KZN regionals
Kloof golfer, Ashley Vermaak, will take part in the national amateur golfers event next month.
ASHLEY Vermaak, an amateur golfer from Kloof, won the 0-5 Flight in the KwaZulu-Natal regional elimination of the 20th World Golfers Championship.
Ashley is now preparing for the national final and Team SA selection, which will take place in September.
At the national final he will compete against regional winners from Gauteng and the Western Cape in order to finish in the top two of his flight to secure his place in Team South Africa. Should he make the team he will then go on to compete against amateur golfers from all over the world at the 20th commemorative World Final in November.
“This is my first time playing in the World Golfers Championship and I am very excited to have finished top of my flight. Durban Country Club is always a good test of golf and it was also a great platform to meet new friends and fellow golfers.
“The organisation of the event was impressive and I am looking forward to the national final next month,” said Ashley.
