Strongwoman jets off to Spain
With numerous titles under her belt, Cindy Marshall is looking forward to winning her category at the Arnold Classic this September.
LOCAL powerhouse and fitness enthusiast, Cindy Marshall, will compete against dozens of other hopefuls at the Arnold Classic in Spain.
Besides being a mother, grandmother and a sleek businesswoman, the bodybuilder can still fit in two one and a half hours of training at the gym, twice a day. “This is one of the biggest shows in the world and I will have a chance to meet all of the people that inspire me to do what I do. I am aiming to try and learn as much as I can and bring that information back and share it with the other athletes. That is what I am looking forward to the most. To ensure that her body was in tip top condition, Cindy had to eat six meals a day, and admitted that at times she still felt slightly hungry.
Shannon Atkinson, one of the athletes that trains with Cindy, will compete in the World Championships in Canada at the end of October. Both women have also qualified to compete in the Olympia Amateur Africa in Johannesburg, also in October.
“Milesh Morar, a personal trainer at Virgin Active in Westville, has pushed both of us to a level we had only ever dreamed of reaching. He is our motivator and he is who we like to call The Leg Man,” laughed Cindy.
