Equestrian star wins ESP award

VARSITY College pupil Rene Hoffmann-Jensen, an equestrian star won the ESP victor ludorum for the 1.20m riding Varsity College Red Hot.

Rene made history when Varsity College gave her a bursary, this was for the first time ever that the school awarded a student whose interest is horse-riding.

Rene was awarded her trophy at the Equestrian Sport Products (ESP) awards that were held at the Summerveld Lodge recently.

The aspiring horse rider has been representing Varsity College Westville at various show-jumping events, on her trusty knight, Varsity College Red Hot.

Excited Rene said that she has big hopes for the sport which includes establishing a riding group or team, as well as captain it for Varsity College, next year.

Scott Edwards, vice principal for marketing at Varsity College said Rene has been a fantastic ambassador for Varsity College Westville, excelling both in her studies and her sport in 2014.

“We are so proud of Rene’s fantastic horse-riding achievements in the show jumping discipline as well as her dedication towards completing her Law degree.

” Rene has really proved herself as a sports bursary student and exemplifies all that we can ask for in a sports bursary student,” said Edwards.
