Villagers shine on rugby field

LANDROVER Durban Hillcrest Villagers’ Rugby Club hosted Jaguars Rugby Club at DSC on Friday evening, despite the logistical challenges of load shedding.

Villagers Second XV easily outclassed their opposition, winning 17-5. Villagers’ First l XV were outstanding in all aspects ofattack and defence, but felt disappointed at not winning the encounter, going down 18-22 in a match that saw Villagers dominate for two thirds of the match.

Villagers’ Third XV drew their match 15-15 earlier in the evening against Mangoshutu University, played at King’s Park, after bravely staging a spectacular second half comeback.

Villagers’ chairman, René Missen, praised all three teams for their performances and putting on a show of spectacular club rugby.
