A PINK Drive in support of breast cancer awareness was hosted at the Firwood Sports Club on Saturday, 29 October. The event was in honour of Carol Stewart who died of cancer last year, shortly after being diagnosed with it.
“This event is in memory of our mother who would have been 66 years old today. She was diagnosed with cancer on 15 February 2015 and died just two months later on 20 April 2015.
“My sister, Penny Krauspe, and I, decided to organise this event to raise money for the Pink Drive as well as for breast cancer research and to also raise awareness,” said organiser, Cindy Roos.
Bowlers took to the greens sporting pink t-shirts in support of the cause.
The South African Blood Services staff were also at the event raising awareness of blood stock levels as well as collecting blood from donors.
Organisers of the event, Penny Krauspe and Cindy Roos, did it in memory of their mother, Carol Stewart.
