Gymnasts round-off great event

The Pinetown Gymnastic Club recently hosted its Level 1 to 3 competition.

THE Pinetown Gymnastic Club hosted its Level 1 to 3 competition (first 3 levels of formal competition), during its 27th consecutive event since the club moved to Lahee Park.

The event, held on Saturday, 21 April, attracted 300 participants from seven clubs.

Allan Chadwick from the club said all gymnasts received a medal based on their overall score and the idea was that they try to improve as the season progresses.

Level 1 age 8 gold medals winners Danae Erian, Lonathemba Tsinde, McKayla Evans, Kate Fuchs and Zanokuhle Oloo proudly show off their medals and certificates.

“We were very pleased to welcome the Inverness Primary School from Newcastle who participated for the first time. This is a national federation development hub which involves six local schools and two LSEN schools,” he said.

The next event will be in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday, 12 May and is the KZN trial to select a team to participate in the Central Zone Festival that will also be in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday, 19 May.

Chadwick said this year sees KZN hosting the inter-provincial event which will also take place in Pietermaritzburg at the YMCA Sports Hall from Thursday, 14 to Saturday, 16 June where more than 1 000 gymnasts are expected to compete.
