TMC athletes do school proud

Eleven mountain bike enthusiasts represented their school, Thomas More College, at the recent National SPUR School's Series.

DURING the October holidays, 11 cyclists from Thomas More College (TMC) travelled to Magaliesburg to compete in the National SPUR School’s Series at Hoërskool Bekker.

The athletes represented TMC in the school’s series and also represented KZN in the provincial series.

TMC placed second in the mixed schools category, but were the first school in KZN to win the overall girls category in the inter-schools competition.

In the provincial series, the KZN team finished in third place overall. In the sub junior boys category, Magalies Spesiale Skool’s Bertie Anderson scooped first place, followed by Potchefstroom Gimnasium’s Christiaan Smith in second place and Jordan Bold from Thomas More College in third place.

In the youth men (B) category, Travis Stedman from Thomas More College won first place, Aaron Heynecke from Jeppe Boys in second and Parel Vallei’s Joshua Burger in third.

In the junior women category, Zandri Strydom from Rob Ferreira High School came in first, followed by Tiffany Keep from TMC in second place and Azulde Britz from Cornwall College took third place.
