Former Katlehong resident pens first book

Her life from growing up in a functional family in Katlehong took a terrible turn.

A former resident of Katlehong and aspiring author, Busisiwe Magasela (29), shares her life story in her first-ever book, Searching.

The aspiring author told Kathorus MAIL she always had the desire to be an author. She is preparing to launch her book virtually on December 2 at 13:00.

According to Magasela, the book focuses on her journey as a young girl who grew up in a functional family, where she felt like a normal child, to a terrible turn when introduced to a dysfunctional family, terror and loss of identity.

“Growing up, I used to read a lot. I was that child running to the corner to catch the newspaper vendors and grab a few copies.

“I then realized that my passion lies in scribbling, and talking about my life story is a great way to start. The memories and milestones inspired me to publish my first book,” said Magasela.

She was born and raised in the Nhlapo section. She attended the foundation phase at Monde Primary before moving to Boksburg, where she completed secondary school at Sunward Park High School.

She said the book is for every township child who dares to dream and cling to what they believe. God has given each of us a calling, and if searching means you learn from life experiences, then you are heading in the right direction, she added.

“This book is for every woman and man who remained a child and lost their way. One thing I wish the reader to take from this book is that we all have our maze to manoeuvre. Changes and challenges will come. My hope and prayer is that you remember that you have a manual (God) when you started the journey,” said Magasela.
