Joburg Zoo celebrates 120th anniversary in March

The zoo is set to roll out the red carpet and has put in place special animal encounters including in-house safari drives and interactive educational sessions.

The Joburg Zoo is inviting the public to celebrate its 120th anniversary with them in March.

Transitioning since 1904 from iron cages with five animals, to currently boasting over 2 000 specimens in spacious, open and landscaped enclosures, the globally recognised Joburg Zoo has come a long way and remains the most sought-after entry point to view the Big Five in any urban centre.

The zoo is set to roll out the red carpet and has put in place special animal encounters including in-house safari drives and interactive educational sessions.

There is going to be something fun and entertaining for everyone. From the March 1 to 29, the zoo entrance fee will be R20. If your birthday falls in March the entry is free.

You need to bring along your identity document.

On March 10 the zoo will host its fun and early morning bi-monthly Zoo Trot.

Senior Citizen’s Day will be hosted on March 14 and the big birthday extravaganza will be hosted on March 21.
