Athletes taking part in the 2026 Thembisa Mile and 10km presented by Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital will compete for a share of R121 500 in prize money.

The annual race, which attracts elite athletes and community runners, will reward top performers across various categories, including the 10km, elite mile, race walk and junior categories.

In the 10km event, the men’s and women’s winners will each receive R10 000, while the runners-up will take home R6 000 and third-place finishers will receive R3 000.

Prize money will also be awarded to the top three finishers in the age categories, including juniors, 40–49 years, 50–59 years, 60–69 years and 70 years and older.

The winners in these categories will receive R1 000, while second-place finishers will receive R750 and third-place finishers will take home R500.

The elite mile will reward the top eight finishers, with the winner receiving R4 000, the runner-up R3 000 and the third-place finisher R2 000.

The top three junior athletes under the age of 19, as well as podium finishers in the 1 Mile race walk, will also receive prize money. Winners will receive R1 000, second-place finishers R750 and third-place finishers R500.

In the under-10, 11–13 years and 14–15 years categories, the top three finishers will also be rewarded, with the winners receiving R500, runners-up R400 and third-place finishers R350.

Official race T-shirts are available for purchase during online registration at a cost of R150, excluding the online service fee charged by the service provider.
