Top teams bake pancakes in spirit of Mandela Day

These four teams will move on to participate in the finals of the race on August 2

THIS past weekend the contestants of the Caxton Reynolds Race 2014 flipped pancakes and served them to the public, all in the spirit of 67 minutes of Mandela Day.

Only the top four teams from the race participated in this task at Kenilworth Spar, Joburg South, on Saturday.

The teams were Bedfordview and Edenvale News and Joburg East Express, Kempton Express and The Tembisan, Germiston City News and Joburg South.

Each team had to make 20 pancakes from scratch and after reaching the target, they had to walk around the store serving the pancakes to customers.

All the teams were in high spirits with this challenge and some of them reach the 20-pancake target more than once.

The reason why only the top four teams took part in this act of good nature is because numerically and following the points on the score card, the other teams have already fallen out of the race, but they were also there for moral support.

These four teams will move on to participate in the finals of the race on August 2.

The winning team will walk away with an all-expenses paid trip sponsored by South African Reynolds Travel Centre from Springs.
