Video: Long-time serving police officers honoured

Policemen and women who have been serving in the force for 10, 20 and 30 years were honoured with medals

POLICE officers who have been serving on the SAPS force for a long time were honoured on Friday.

The Tembisa Cluster, together with the Alexandra Cluster, honoured their long-time serving officers at a medal parade on the grounds of Maranatha Christian School.

Policemen and women who have been serving in the force for 10, 20 and 30 years were given honorary medals for their hard work and dedication to the force.

Maj Genl Mosikili, who was there on behalf of the provincial commissioner, thanked the members of the police force for their commitment and loyalty to the police.

“We would like to give a big thank you to police officers who received their medals today, and would like them to know that their service is appreciated,” Mosikili said.

She warned against the dangers of corruption and stressed the significance of the community working hand in hand with the police in the fight against crime.

“We have many challenges facing our police force, such as corruption and crime. I need to warn our officials against corruption because it will break down and destroy our society. It is vital to retain the dignity of our organisation. “Veterans of the force should show and act as good leadership to the young cops who just joined the force. And with regards to fighting crime, this should be a joint operation between the police and the community. Law enforcement alone cannot win the battle against crime,” Mosikili concluded.
