Food needed to support destitute families

All items can be delivered to the CMR offices

THE Christian Social Services Council (CMR) of Kempton Park supports destitute families of all races once a month with food parcels as part of its intervention programme.

These food parcels contain food for only a few days. In the past month 26 families were provided with a “survival food parcel”.

If more products were available, more substantial parcels could be distributed and more families could be assisted.

CMR requires canned meat, mixed vegetables, fish and baked beans in tomato sauce (often cooking facilities are not available), peanut butter, jam, margarine, cake flour, cooking oil, maize/rice/pasta, soup powder and soya.

Toiletries such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, moisturisers, sanitary products for woman and toilet paper are also needed.

They also require funds for the council to buy some of these items.

All items can be delivered to the CMR offices at 17 Pascoe Avenue. For more information, call Diane Cilliers 011-975-3924.
