Bring a Christmas present to someone through Rotary’s Tree of Joy

Rotarians will be at the Tree of Joy table during shopping hours every day until Monday, December 22

CHRISTMAS is a time for feasting, partying and giving presents, but there are children and aged people in our community who may not be getting a present this Christmas – unless the people of our community rally round to help them.

The purpose of the Tree of Joy Project run by Edenvale Rotary Club at Greenstone Shopping Cente this December, is to collect gifts for the needy, impoverished, disabled, orphaned, old and sick.

This project was started by the club in December 2013, supported by other Rotary clubs in the area. Last year over 900 gifts were collected from generous shoppers and the Rotarians want to beat that number this year.

The Rotary clubs obtained Christmas wishes from all the needy people in the charities they support. The Rotarians wrote each person’s wish onto a “wish card”. These cards are displayed on the Christmas tree in the forecourt of Greenstone Shopping Centre.

Shoppers are able to select the wish cards that appeal to them and buy the gifts written on the cards. The gifts donated by the shoppers are wrapped and then distributed to the charity organisations on Christmas eve.

Rotarians will be at the Tree of Joy table during shopping hours every day until Monday, December 22.

Please help them make a needy person’s wish come true this Christmas.
