Domestic injured trying to escape
A domestic worker was arrested for possession of stolen groceries at her workplace in Orange Rivier Drive, Terenure, on Friday, January 30.
Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, said the 49-year-old woman’s employer had a suspicion that her employee was taking her groceries without her permission.
“The complainant said when the domestic worker was knocking off after 5pm, she had in her possession a bag she suspected might have stolen items inside it,” explained Molokomme.
Upon searching the bag the complainant found her groceries worth about R700.
In another incident on Sunday, February 1 at about 4.40pm, Norkem Police arrested a suspect (36) for fraud at Birch Acres Mall. Molokomme said the man was arrested at one of the mall’s liquor stores while trying to buy liquor valued at about R11 000.
“The cashier became suspicious when the card declined payment. The man was requested to produce his ID and it was discovered the card did not belong to him,” Molokomme explained.
