It poured on winning November bride’s big day
Although it was not love at first sight, he was the romantic from the start
CHARNE Swanepoel (24) won the Kempton Express/Pick n Pay Bride of the Month for November. She married Reinhard (25) on November 28.

Here she answers some questions:
1. How long have you known each other?
We met two years ago. We started off being friends and dated for three months. He then proposed on a mountain top on a helicopter outing.
2. Where did you meet?
My mother sent a photo of me to a (girl) friend of his on Whatsapp, but we ended up chatting instead. He asked that we met for coffee a few times but I cancelled the appointments shortly before they could happen.
I then had to go for an operation and Reinhard sent me a teddy bear with a bunch of pink roses and a get well card. He visited while I was in hospital and we became friends.
3. Was it love at first sight?
No. We went out a couple of times and he spoiled me every time with flowers, gifts and cards. He sometimes even put rose petals in front of our door and all the way to my bedroom, ending with a heart of petals on my bed.
4. What did you dread most about your wedding day?
Rain! And boy, did it rain! It came down in buckets from 11am until 12.30pm. I was delayed half an hour because of this. Fortunately all the guests were in church already. Shortly after the service, the rain stopped.
5. Which part of your wedding day did you enjoy most?
Seeing the expression on my father’s face when I gave him a handkerchief reading, “Dad, you might be giving me away today, but you will always be my hero”, just before he walked me down the aisle.
6. What do you love most about your husband?
His sense of humour and the tone in his voice when he gets excited! It makes me laugh out loud as he sounds like a little school boy.
7. What do you hate about your husband?
Reinhard is an extremely sensitive person, so I have to choose my words very wisely at times to ensure he does not understand me wrong. We are also both very stubborn and this can be frustrating at times.
8. What do you love most about your mother-in-law?
She is a very caring and loving person and very protective of her family.
9. What is your husband’s favourite food?
Braaivleis with friends.
10. What is your favourite food?
Pizza and pasta.
11. Which is your favourite restaurant?
Ocean Basket.
12. What colour is your bedroom?
Autumn colours.
13. What is your favourite night out?
Movies and popcorn with my husband.
14. Does your husband help you with dinner?
Yes, he gets home earlier than I do at times, then starts dinner.
15. Do you have pets?
Yes, we have two labradors, Ruby and Trixie. Ruby is four months old and Trixie seven months.
16. What is your occupation?
Administrator at Carenet Consultants.
17. What is your husband’s occupation?
Site forman with Group 5.
