Hoërskool Kempton Park wins 50km relay against drugs
Inmates of the prison gave a talk to learners at schools around Kempton Park the whole of last week on the dangers of crime and drug use
HOËRSKOOL Kempton Park came first in a 50km relay race against drugs on Saturday.
They finished in 3 hours, 28 minutes and 51 seconds, winning a floating trophy and a gold medal for each team member. Hoërskool Jeugland was second half an hour later and each team member received a silver medal.
Rhodesfield High School achieved third place after completing just behind Jeugland in four hours and each team member received a bronze medal.Various local schools took part in the anti-drug campaign at Maranatha School’s rugby field.
Twenty learners, 10 girls and 10 boys, ran a 50km relay run with each pupil doing 2,5km. Resident Michael Rautenbach did 100km on a treadmill on behalf of Modderbee Correctional Services, who were involved in the project organised by Luthemba Lethu Community Project (LLCP). Rautenbach finished the 100km run over two days in 10 hours 13 minutes and 48 seconds.
