Suspected thieves arrested

The two men failed to take the police officers to the place where they claimed their car was parked.

A Tembisa SAPS patrol spotted three men who were walking along Andrew Mapheto Drive at about 3.20am on November 12.

“One of the men was pushing a motor vehicle’s tyre. The police officers immediately confronted the men. Of the suspects managed to escape,” said Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha.

The 22-year-old who was pushing the tyre told the police officers the tyre belonged to their vehicle which is parked somewhere else.

The two men failed to take the police officers to the place where they claimed their car was parked.

“On searching the bag being carried by the 36-year-old, police officers found different kinds of spanners and a jack. The two men were arrested and detained at the Tembisa Police Station for possession of suspected stolen property,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
