THREE cash robbers fleeing a scene Tuesday last week were no match for swift community members who didn’t let them get very far.
This was after a man who had just been robbed of his money on Jacaranda Street in Kempton Park, alerted people by shouting for help.

According to Kempton police spokesperson Capt Jethro Mtshali, the victim had just come back from buying groceries at the Checkers on Pretoria Road when he was approached by three suspects outside his home on Jacaranda Street at about 4.10pm.
“One of the suspects covered the victim’s mouth, preventing him from screaming while another searched him and took his cash from his pocket,” Mtshali said.
“As they left the scene running, the victim screamed for help and community members who heard the scream chased after the suspects.”
They managed to catch the three men and called the police, who then arrested them.
The victim’s money was returned to him.
The three suspects, two of them aged 23 and one 25, will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court soon.
Station Commander Brig Bertha Kgoroba thanked the community members who made sure that the suspects are brought to book.
“This shows that the community is sick and tired of criminals who want to take control of the streets. The community members are now taking charge of the city,” Mtshali said.
