The 35-year-old is believed to be of Congolese origin and was allegedly a drug addict.

“Since the incident police have tried to locate his next of kin with no success, hence we are now appealing to anyone who can assist in the location of family members to come forward to officially identify the deceased so he can be buried,” Mtshali said.

Otherwise the state will be obliged to give him a pauper’s burial. Kabongo’s body is still at the Germiston mortuary.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det W/O Joel Makhura or Mtshali on 011-393-8600.
