WATCH: Is this the metro’s idea of water shedding?

Smith contacted Rand Water this morning and their reply was they would direct it to Ekurhuleni

LESS than 24 hours after Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality told Express the valve problems at the Chloorkop reservoir had been sorted out, guess what?

Another flood of water is streaming down Chloorkop streets – and tonight is Kempton Park’s first night of water shedding from 9pm until 5am.

Express reported about the major water loss problems at the reservoir three weeks ago. An enquiry was sent to the metro at the same time, and the reply arrived late in Tuesday afternoon, saying: “The depot team experienced challenges of water overflow at the reservoir on October 13 and 17.  This was due to failing or malfunction of control valves in the supply water line. A team went and manually closed the inlets valves and monitored the levels, the control valves has been attended to.”

Surprise, surprise! On Wednesday afternoon at 13.30pm the street river was back in full force. Resident Madelyn Smith sent this video showing how the water was running through the streets and into residents’ yards.

“It is very ironic that there will be water shedding tonight but a river of water is streaming down the streets,” said Smith.

Smith contacted Rand Water this morning and their reply was they would direct it to Ekurhuleni.
