Rhodesfield says no to crime

Residents from Vine to Fred Driver streets joined the movement

RESIDENTS of Rhodesfield Extension 1 joined Airwolf Security for a symbolic walk against crime on Saturday.

Residents from Vine to Fred Driver streets joined the movement in the spirit of ensuring that streets would be safer during the festive season.

The CEO of Airwolf, Ockert Snyman, said the purpose was to ensure that Rhodesfield was one of the safest areas.

He said it was important for the children to feel free in their own environment and to live in a place that is crime-free.

“We and the community have decided that we want to do something special for our kids. We are accommodating them with a Christmas party,” he said.

“We want the whole community to know that Airwolf is not going to allow crime to terrorise people. We are taking back our area.

“The reason we are having the kids here, is that we want them to be a part of this movement because they are the future. It is also important for people to be aware of what is happening around them, especially at this time of the year,” Snyman said.

Chairperson of the community police forum for sector 2, Luthando Lundo, said the involvement of CPF was critical for crime awareness in Rhodesfield.

“The reason the CPF is part of the walk is that it talks to crime, which is our main focus. It is also important for us to engage and educate them about safety. We are happy with the involvement of this community today,” Lundo added.
