Nurses and staff at Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital celebrated their profession at a special event on May 11.
Nurses at the private hospital celebrated International Nurses Day dressed in white and the occasion aimed to celebrate their successes and achievements in nursing.
To mark the day, staff members from cleaning, the medical wards and casualty wards supported the nurses and shared various entertaining activities.

Speaking during the event Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital manager Rodney Naicker said he would like to acknowledge the work and dedication of their nurses to patients, doctors, visitors and colleagues and to take a moment to reflect on and celebrate their profession and contribution with pride.
“In emphasising my appreciation for the critical role nurses play, it is important to be reminded of the impact nurses have on our patients’ lives and the responsibility associated with holding such a frontline position,” added Naicker.
He said it is the hospital’s values which should prescribe their behaviour in all dealings with their patients and indeed all of their stakeholders.
“Our values are our DNA, the thread that connects us, inspires us and reminds us how to tackle each task we are faced with. We embrace every day to strive to exceed the expectations of our patients, visitors and doctors. We work as a team and hold ourselves and each other accountable for our actions. And we always act with compassion and empathy and aim for perfection in all that we do,” explained Naicker.

He said they would like to thank the nurses for their endless stamina, patience and compassion.
The hospital’s matron and nursing manager Delina Mothiba conducted a Nurses pledge whereby all the nurses held a candlelight pledging for their commitment to service.
One of the nurses at the hospital, Letta Serumula, who also holds a position as an acting ICU manager, said love and passion drive her to wake up every day and go serve society.

“I regard nursing as a calling and not only a profession. Those who would love to find themselves in our shoes need to have an open heart and honesty because this is a profession that demands long hours and is sometimes strenuous,” added Serumula.
Three of the hospital nurses Tlaki Makawu, Samkelisiwe Ncqobo and Ncumisa Dyantye were awarded presents for being the top dressed nurses.
All of the Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital nurses received tokens of appreciation from different sponsors.
A toast was done to wish the nurses a good health and long life.
