Do the good thing and donate blood, says Edleen teen

Edleen teenager's main idea was donating blood that could save a child’s life.

A 16-year-old Edleen teenager, who has donated blood for the first time on May 11, is challenging other teenagers to do the same.

Donating blood was one of 16 good things Brenise Rycroft promised herself to do on her 16th birthday on July 17 last year.

Although she does not want to talk about the other 15 things, she did donate a lot of her childhood stuffed animals to the welfare department at her church.

Signing up as a blood donor at the Kempton Park Blood Donor Clinic. Donating blood was one of Brenise Rycroft’s 16 good things do to when she turned 16.

According to her mother Liz, her daughter’s passion is working with children. Her main idea was donating blood that could save a child’s life, and donating things (even those with sentimental value) that could potentially bring joy to another’s heart.

“Her biggest wish is to awaken that drive in the heart of other teenagers, that by donating blood, they could unknowingly save the life of another. She is mature beyond her age,” Liz said.

“A lot of teenagers her age feel like they cannot contribute to society. They aren’t children anymore and neither are they adults, but this way they can make a difference.”
