Kempton Park SPCA in desperate need of blankets to cope with cold spell

The dogs and cats at Kempton Park SPCA need your help as the weather takes a cold dip.

We are in the second month of winter and can expect nothing less than cold weather but the current cold front has definitely served as a ‘cold-wakening’ just to remind us that winter is here.

Some of us rush home from work to snuggle under blankets or sit in front of the heater with a nice cup of coffee or whatever method we use to keep warm. Those who have animals also try to make means to keep their pets warm during such times but what about our furry animals at Kempton Park SPCA?

The dogs and cats at Kempton Park SPCA are in desperate need of blankets.

“We did not anticipate such chilly weather and need to ensure the comfort of the animals in our kennels,” said Kira Sparrow, manager at Kempton Park SPCA.

“We unfortunately only have one run with heaters, therefore need to utilise other means to keep the dogs and cats warm.”

The SPCA is also in desperate need of:

• Towels

• Carpet cut-offs

• Conveyor belt pieces

• Pallets

• Canvas sheeting

• Infra-red light globes, fittings and cables

• Dog jerseys (medium, large and extra-large)

• Cocoon beds

• Small igloo type kennels (these fit inside the blocks).

“We are looking at temperatures of four degrees for the next few days, please help where you can,” concluded Sparrow.
