Tevo’s human resource manager Phinda Nkosi said the team extended their helping hand and brought the children boxes of toys.
“We are grateful to have made a right choice for coming here at Tumelo Home. Having seen this home on our previous visit, we felt touched and thought it will be appropriate for us to celebrate the 67 Minutes of Mandela Day with the children. As a company, we go around making donations to local businesses,” said Nkosi.
When asked what he thinks about Mandela Day, Nkosi said he feels people are not taking part in the initiative like they used to when it was initially introduced.
“When the initiative started, we were excited and most people were eager to make a difference in the community. I think now people are used to it and it’s sort of diminishing. 67 Minutes for Mandela is a good programme and the communities should continue to take advantage of the day and help others where possible,” added Nkosi.

He further said he hopes the little that they brought to Tumelo Home will help sustain the centre and make them feel special.
“I am very impressed with the home. It is organised and well-cared for. Sometimes we pick up energy from the children and you can see that these children are cared for with love. The staff is doing great work and I am also impressed by the fact that they are patient and friendly toward the children. I think we are going to adopt the home from time to time, make contributions,” said Nkosi.
Sara Makola, the administrator of Tumelo Home, said they thank the Tevo team to have managed to buy all the items needed on their wish list.
“We really appreciate Tevo team to show us love. Our children couldn’t contain their excitement when they received the toys. It was almost like a dream to them. And we are extremely grateful for the special cleaning equipment donated because that will make our work easier,” added Makola.
Tumelo Home caters for children with physical and mental disabilities that range from mentally handicapped, orphaned and abused.
