Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards open for artwork submissions

The judges will select an exhibition of the best artwork

It is crunch time and the competition for the coveted prize is on.

The City of Ekurhuleni, in collaboration with the Lizamore & Associates Mentorship Programme, is calling on all artists to enter the prestigious, nationally acclaimed Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards – its 31st edition.

The judges will select an exhibition of the best artwork. The artwork must have been completed 12 months preceding the close of the entry date.

“We encourage artists who specialise in contemporary fine arts to start preparing their work while there is still time before the final submission dates. This is to allow everyone an opportunity to participate in the competition by submitting their impressive artwork,” member of the mayoral committee for community services, Clr Dora Mlambo said.

The submission dates for the artwork awards are:

Works may be submitted from August 21 to 23 between 9am and 7pm at Coen Scholtz Recreation Centre, Mooifontein Road, Birchleigh North.

Entries may also be submitted at Boksburg Library on August 21 between 9am and 4pm; at Springs Art Gallery on August 21 and 22 between 9am and 7pm; at Katlehong Art Centre, 203 Sontonga Street, Phooko Section, on August 22 between 9am and 4pm.

The entry fee is R50 per artwork entered.
