Care Bible Church celebrates Women’s Day with motivational talks

Two Powerhouses Dr Mavis Ureke and Dr Noma Nyembo were keynote speakers for the day

Care Bible Church ladies were dressed to the nines in floral and white to celebrate Women’s Day (August 9) at the Care Bible Church 2018 High Tea and Women’s Convention.

Dr Mavis Ureke and Dr Noma Nyembo were the keynote speakers at the church and the theme for the day was “Uniquely Perfected by the Potter”.

“Emotions control every area of our lives and they can be incapacitating to us if not handled the right way. What is the best way to handle our emotions? Self-awareness. If you don’t know who you are and what your purpose is it will be difficult to respond to life’s challenges and changes in the right way. If you lack self-awareness you will pray amiss, you will pray for things that you don’t need.”

Guests speakers Dr Mavis Ureke and Dr Noma Nyembo joined Bongi Mlambo and Sandra Sehlapelo (leader of the women’s ministry at Care Bible Church).

This is how Ureke kicked off the convention, by sharing with the women the consequences when you lack self-awareness and saying they will not be able to face their realities head on and deal with any issues that need to be dealt with.

“You will be abused, you can’t tell people how to treat you if you don’t know who you are. You will get into financial trouble because people who are not in touch with their emotions tend to use money to mask their emotions. People normally get into emotional debt before financial debt and unfortunately, you can never pay off emotional debt with money. When we lack self-awareness, we can’t self-accept. We judge ourselves and others,” she explained.

Ureke said self-awareness provides clarity, direction and focus.

“Remember, all emotions are allowed but not all behaviours are allowed,” she added.

Nyembo then took to the stage and explained to the ladies the connection between the Potter (God) and the clay (humans).

“If you look back to 5 000 to 7 000 years before Christ pottery was very common as women made jars they used to get water from the wells. In the books of Isaiah and Jeremiah, God uses pottery to demonstrate to the people what he would do at different times and seasons. Pottery is used to illustrate God as all-powerful because the clay is in the hand of the Potter, the Potter has authority over the clay.

“Like all trades, there was a process and skill to pottery. The potter would remove all the impurities from the clay and allow it to stand in water so the impurities can come to the surface. Once the impurities are out the potter would use their hands to mould and shape the clay to the desired shape,” said Nyembo.

“So, any good thing must go through the fire, if you go through the fire today it means the Potter has you in mind. He wants to perfect you. The more plans He has for you, the greater the fire and the greater the heat. Don’t get out of the oven now, don’t get out of the heat otherwise the process will not be complete. I don’t know what heat you are going through, but I just want to encourage you that the Potter will not leave you the same,” said Nyembo.

At the end of the event, the ladies were left inspired, nurtured and revived.
