St Mathews Catholic Church celebrates Women’s Month

St Mathews Catholic Church celebrates Women's Month.

Women from St Mathews Catholic Church celebrated Women’s Month at Moses Molelekwa Art Centre on August 9.

Treasure of Young Adults at St Mathews Catholic Church Thando Dladla said they organised the event for the women in the community and in their church to come and talk about women issues.

She said their main speaker was social worker Noluthando Kubheka.

This event was for women and by women.

“We talked about self-love. We spoke about God and marriage. We had poetry by one of our church members. One of the speakers spoke about domestic abuse. Remember, self-love is about how women who love themselves deal with domestic abuse,” said Dladla.

She said women must not settle for less in a relationship because they want to gain something.

“If you are being abused do not stay because you are thinking what is going to happen to your children.

“Love yourself enough to say I am willing to get out of this so that I can start again and build myself.

“No one is going to love you if you do not love yourself,” said Dladla.

She said from the speakers’ speeches it is clear that women need to know what is good for them and not stay in a relationship even when they see that it is not working out.
