JMPD fights land invasion in Rabie Ridge

Police rubber bullets to remove land invaders.

On September 2, the JMPD removed illegal structures erected by land invaders at Rabie Ridge, corner of Republic Road and Boshof Street.

Rabie Ridge SAPS communications officer Capt Mofana Masela said the police addressed the Ivory Park community making them aware that what they were doing by erecting illegal structures, they were acting illegally.

The JMPD asked them to vacate the land, but they refused and threw stones at the JMPD officials. The JMPD fired rubber bullets.

“Police told the community to vacate the land and leave the area,” Masela said

He said all structures were finally removed from the area and a docket of public violence was also opened.
