Life 4 U Foundation walks away with top award
She came out on top of ten other hard-working nominees who vied for this significant award.
Life 4 U Foundation has done it again at the 4th Annual Vita Basadi Awards 2018.
The chairperson of Life 4 U Foundation, Mpho Mofokeng, walked away with the prestigious award in the Young Philanthropist category.
She came out on top of ten other hard-working nominees who vied for this significant award.
The Vita Basadi Awards is an initiative of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) that recognises excellence by Gauteng women in various industries and community services.
“I was astounded when my name was called on the podium by the honourable Thuliswa Nkabinde who is a chairperson of social development portfolio committee in the Gauteng Legislature. In my category, it was ten of us and it was difficult to know for sure who was going to win the category because Gauteng has many talented young people doing great things for their communities and their respective townships and municipalities. I thank God for this overflowing grace in my life and organisation. For me to win this award is because of God who gave us this mandate of serving his people and the Nation. Also, the team that I am working with at Life 4 U Foundation; our families, pastors, volunteers, sponsors and partners,” said Mpho Mofokeng.
Mofokeng added that at Life 4 U they have a dedicated team led by his partner, Simon Molekwa, who every day is making sure that the organisation is sustainable and relevant to their beneficiaries. “Boitumelo Mohlabi, John Ngomane, Maechel Molekwa and Nolitha Mdladla, our staff members, have played a starring role in making sure that we help our beneficiaries and communities with love and respect. Our sponsors – Iwisa Maize Meal, Mapule Nyama Butchery, Oakmoor businessman Carlos, National Lottery and Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality – have creditably ensured the sustainability of our project. Without them we could not do anything,” said Mofokeng.
She said their secret of success at Life 4 U Foundation is that they are a strong team of young people who believe in God who gave them this mandate, and passion to work without a pay or salary. “Yes, it’s difficult to work without a salary, but people have to know that whenever you start a project – a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), business or any company – the income for a certain period is a seed, and a seed is not to be eaten but to be reinvested so that it can multiply, and after multiplying to your satisfaction it’s when you can store some, reinvest some and eat some.”
“At Life 4 U Foundation we are honoured to serve our communities with love and passion and to win this award. That’s why we continuously appeal to local businesses to support our programmes of alleviating poverty, developing the youth and promoting hygiene and good sanitation in our communities,” said Mofokeng.
